If you have no previous experience with variable-voltage electronic cigarettes and have never used a standard electronic cigarette with a low-resistance atomizer before, the power of the Lavatube electronic cigarette may be a bit overwhelming to you at first. The Lavatube puts out 12 watts of power when used at six volts with the Lavatube atomizer or another high-resistance atomizer. As a result, it vaporizes e-liquid at a very fast pace. If you don’t add e-liquid through the drip tip frequently enough, the atomizer will dry out resulting in a burned taste and a very harsh vapor that may make you cough.
So, if you are constantly getting a burned taste from your Lavatube atomizer, the first thing that you should try is adding more e-liquid. If the atomizer is completely dry, it will take about 3-5 drops of e-liquid to get the atomizer wet enough to produce a pleasant vapor cloud with no burned taste. Over time, as you get used to the high power of the Lavatube, you’ll know when the right time is to add e-liquid — on average, we find that you need to add liquid about every 5 puffs, but that depends on the length of each puff.
If adding e-liquid doesn’t prevent the Lavatube from producing a burned taste, you may have a more serious problem: you may have used the Lavatube electronic cigarette with a dry atomizer for too long and burned the internal wick that delivers e-liquid to the heating coil. When this happens, there is unfortunately little that you can do to restore the atomizer’s original taste. In the future, consider running the Lavatube electronic cigarette at five rather than six volts until you get used to the rate at which it consumes e-liquid. As you become more confident, raise the voltage slowly until you are able to consistently use the Lavatube without getting a burned taste.
